Commuters traveling across the East River on the The Roosevelt Island tram which connects Roosevelt Island with the mainland of Manhattan. Roosevelt Island is about two miles long and is part of the borough of Manhattan. It lies between the island of Manhattan to its west and the borough of Queens to its east.
